The Netball Talent Development Program plays a vital role in the Netball NSW Athlete Pathway by identifying, monitoring and developing the skills of young netball players.

The HAS Greater Bank Netball academy program is aimed primarily at individual skill development with a focus on preparing scholarship athletes for NSW state team selection and the further representative opportunities that may present themselves.

In addition to athlete development, the academy program also focuses on development and the further educating of local coaches and umpires under the Netball NSW guidelines.

The program will consist of on court skills training, fitness and athlete education. The 2025/26 program will run in 2 training blocks, from December  to April & July to September.

The following benefits will apply to those selected in the Netball program:

  • Skill Development Sessions Focused on the Skills Specific to Netball
  • Access to a Network of Specialised Coaches
  • Athlete Education in Topics such as Nutrition, Sports Psychology, Motivation, Leadership and Load Management
  • Strength and Conditioning Coaching and Testing, followed by on-court Strength & Conditioning
  • Access to recommended HAS providers such as Physiotherapy & Podiatry
  • Targeted Competition Events, such as Your Local Club Academy Games and Academy Challenge**

Athletes must fit the following criteria to trial for the 2025/26 Program:

  • Be aged between 15-16 years (Born in 2011 & 2010) in the year of the scholarship program
  • Reside within the Hunter Region LGAs (including Greater Taree)
  • Be a Current Registered Member of a Local Netball Association
  • Display the Potential to Progress through the Netball NSW Athlete Pathway
  • Demonstrate a Dedication to Improving Performance

 

A trial will be held for selections into the 2025/2026 HAS Netball Netball Squad.

Trials will be held on Saturday 1st of  November at the Hunter Sports High School 8am -1pm.

Program Head Coach – Nikkia Humphries

Nikkia is passionate about the development of regional athletes, striving to ensure they have every opportunity to succeed and achieve their goals. Having begun her coaching journey on the North Coast, this year marks her seventh season within the Academy pathway. Nikkia has also coached in the Netball NSW Regional Emerging Talent Program, Regional State Cup teams, and is entering her third year coaching in the Premier League with Central Coast Heart. She is excited to continue contributing to the growth and success of young athletes through the Academy program and the opportunities it provides.
