The HAS Program will focus on developing athletes between the ages U17, U15 and U13. Selected athletes will develop skills that are required to enhance their performance and knowledge of the game.

This HAS program is supported by AFL NSW and continues to provide pathways for inspired Aussie Rules athletes.

As part of the program we will be helping the athletes with Strength and Conditioning support, online nutrition seminars and information for athletes and families.

Athlete Benefits

The following benefits will apply to those selected in the Aussie Rules Football program:

Face to face training sessions (kicking, handball, tackle technique and game play)
Athlete Education in Topics such as Nutrition, Sports Psychology, Motivation, Leadership and Load Management
Inter-Academy Match Play opportunity
On field and in gym Strength and Conditioning sessions (agility, running, coordination, strength)
Access to a Network of Specialised Coaches and guest
Access to recommended HAS providers such as Physiotherapy & Podiatry

Eligibility

To be eligible for selection into the HAS Aussie Rules Program, athletes must nominate via the link provided.

Some athletes have been identified and invited by AFL NSW and the Regional Academies of Sport based on performance or potential performance levels displayed during the AFL NSW Representative Carnival.

Athlete age groups eligible are below:
Male and Female

Under 13’s
Under 15s
Under 17s

All athletes nominating or invited must be registered with a Hunter Aussie Rules association/team.

Selection Process

A trial will be held for selections into the 2025/26 HAS Aussie Rules Squad.

Program Information

The program is designed to support athletes in their development with the aim of preparing them for the Sydney Swans Academy Trials, held annually in October/November.

While selection is not guaranteed through participation in our program, all athletes will be encouraged to trial each year or work towards reaching the standard required to be considered for entry into the Academy.
